At the inaugural session of RSS’ two-day ‘Samrasta Sangam’, chief Mohan Bhagwat said that no matter what the political scenario in the country may be, the RSS will continue to focus on inducting more and more volunteers from rural India into the organisation.
Issuing an appeal to all volunteers to go into the villages and add young blood to the ranks of the RSS, Bhagwat said that the volunteers should make sure that they wear the Sangh uniform during the meetings.
Bhagwat also said that eight registration centres have been established in this district of 45 lakh people, where RSS functionaries are preparing uniforms for the volunteers.
A senior functionary of the Sangh said that the speed at which the Sangh is spreading in the cities is much higher than the speed with which it is spreading in the villages.
It is the Sangh’s effort to bring in more and more rural youth into the organisation that, despite all the modernization, the Indian spirit still lives in the villages. The Modi government’s focus is on agriculture and the RSS is also focusing on the rural areas, to ensure that by 2019, every polling booth in the villages is supported by a team of RSS volunteers, thereby helping increase the vote percentage in favour of the BJP.
During the first day, Bhagwat had a meeting with the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath behind closed doors. It is being speculated that the current scenario of Uttar Pradesh and the country and the growing unrest among the people against the BJP were discussed during the meeting. This is the second secret meeting of Yogi Adityanath with Mohan Bhagwat in the Agra division in the past year since he assumed power in UP.
Social activist and Bhartiya Muslim Vikas Parishad Chairman Sami Aghai said that the RSS has always said that it is not involved in politics, yet it is a well known fact that the Sangh is the driving force behind the BJP.
BJP stands to gain a lot if the RSS is able to strengthen its foothold in the villages. This is an alarming scenario as the brand of nationalism that the RSS and BJP are preaching is taking India towards fascism, added Aghai.
Aghai expressed hope that the people will realize their folly in choosing Modi as the PM and will vote him out in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, otherwise in the coming five-year term, Modi will not be averse from going to extreme measures to ensure that the country cannot escape from BJP’s clutches for the coming decades.
