An Information Technology (IT) professional who arrived from Belgium to surprise his wife on her birthday died tragically after falling off a building before he could meet her. Tejas Dubey (32), an IT profesional working in Belgium, had come to city on Thursday night (August 9). He had planned to surprise his wife living in Pune on her birthday to be celebrated on August 10.
However, on wee hours of Friday morning where he was staying with friends before leaving for Pune, he accidentally fell from the building and died. According to the Vakola police, Dubey fell out from flat number 601 of PK Arch building on Kalina-Kurla Road, Vakola, Santacruz (east).
Dubey who hails from Jharkhand was an engineer working with an IT company based in Belgium. He frequently visited to meet his wife who is a Pune resident and is being said to be associated with an MNC over there.
“Dubey was a frequent visitor and following his wife’s birthday on Friday, he planned a surprise visit to spend time with her. He landed Mumbai airport, late on Thursday night where he was received by his friend Rohit Anand. Anand was living in a rented flat where Dubey and another friend stayed. He planned a night stay in Mumbai with Anand and another close friend who is a resident of Oshiwara after which he was planning to head to Pune. On Thursday night, Dubey and both of his friends had a get together. Later, after mid-night, his other friend returned home after which Anand and Dubey retired to sleep since Dubey was exhausted due to jet lag following a long duration flight,” said police inspector Vivek Shengte who is the investigating the case.
Shengte added, “During the wee hours around, Dubey woke up maybe due to sleepiness or some other possible reasons, he failed to notice the low lying bedroom window besides him which was kept open for fresh air. The window had no safety grills. He might have either slipped off or have accidentally fell outside from the French window and at that time no one actually noticed what exactly happened at the spot so at present there is a possibility of accidental death.”
A nearby resident first witnessed the dead body after which he alerted the watchman and later Anand and Dubey’s other friend rushed him to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The police have also denied possibility of Dubey having consumed alcohol with his friends as the reason behind the accident.
“The body has been handed over to Dubey’s family and we have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case. We are recording statements of Dubey’s friends, family, other associates and also of the flat owner. Further more details and facts are being investigated and presently we do not sense any foul play behind the accident.” said K.B Avahad, senior police inspector of Vakola police station.
Dubey fell off from flat number 601 of PK Arch building on Kalina-Kurla Road, Vakola, Santacruz (east). Dubey who hails from Jharkhand was an engineer, working with a Belgium-based IT company.
