Tom Cruise has done it yet again. His latest film, Mission: Impossible-Fallout, has opened to good numbers in India. As per Box Office India, the film has registered the sixth biggest number for a Hollywood film in India. Cruise’s film has earned approximately Rs 9.50 crore on its opening day, says the site.
It’s behind Avengers-Infinity War (Rs 31.23 cr), Fast And Furious 7 (Rs 12.03 cr), Avengers-Age Of Ultron (Rs 10.96 cr), The Jungle Book (Rs 10.12 cr) and Fast And Furious 8 (Rs 9.57 cr).
This list is dominated by only two franchises and that shows how important it must be for a new franchise break into this line-up. This is when Cruise’s film hasn’t released in 3D and there was a well known Bollywood franchise as the opponent at the box office. Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 also released on the same day.
Though film trade analyst Taran Adarsh hasn’t tweeted the business figures of both the films, he has given ample hints that Hollywood has won this round against Bollywood at the ticket window. He tweeted, “Mission accomplished… Hollywood scores yet again… #MissionImpossibleFallout opens BIGGER and BETTER than Hindi releases… Also makes a dent in the biz of holdover titles.”

He also said that Dhadak’s good run at the box office has also been affected by Mission: Impossible-Fallout. He wrote, “#Dhadak [Week 2] got affected by #MI6 wave, yet recorded fairly good numbers… Expected to grow over the weekend… Fri 2.61 cr. Total: ₹ 54.17 cr. India biz.”

The initial numbers are impressive, but will MI6 cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark in India?
