A video showing a Karnataka Congressman throwing liquid – allegedly petrol – inside a government office has prompted the leader of the BJP’s state unit to condemn the ruling party’s “arrogance” and “hooliganism.”
Narayan Swamy, a close aide of Congress MLA Byrati Basavaraj, tried to threaten officials at a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike* (BBMP) office by splashing liquid around, after an argument ensued when he asked for a housing document, or khata.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered Narayan Swamy’s arrest. Ramalinga Reddy, the state home minister, said a forensic lab would determine if that liquid he threw was indeed petrol, or some other solution.
The arrogance & hooliganism of Congress leaders is touching new heights everyday.
Satesh Kumar, a revenue officer in the BBMP, filed a police complaint Tuesday afternoon.
Narayan Swamy was booked under five sections of the Indian Penal Code, and four teams have been formed to nab him.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state unit claimed the Congressman was a close aide of Siddaramaiah’s. It uploaded a video of the incident on its Twitter account.
In a tweet he posted Tuesday, Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa said Siddaramaiah’s “model of governance” was on display.
